As we prepare for the 2027 Washington legislative session, we need real workforce data from the people who actually live it every day — YOU.

Washington State Dental Jobs (WSDJ) is conducting a statewide dental workforce survey, and the data collected will be shared with the Washington Dental Hygienists’ Association (WDHA) ahead of the upcoming legislative session.

This isn’t just another survey.

The information you provide can help us better understand what is happening on the ground:

• What are hygienists experiencing in today’s workforce?
• Where are the barriers to employment and retention?
• What does compensation actually look like?
• Are hygienists working full-time, part-time, multiple jobs, or leaving the profession?
• What challenges are practices and hygienists facing?
• What changes would actually make a difference?

Good policy requires good data.

If we want to advocate for modernization of our profession, expanded access to care, appropriate utilization of hygienists, and a stronger dental workforce, we need more than anecdotes. We need your experiences represented in the data.

We’re asking every WDHA member to take a few minutes and complete the survey — and please share it with your dental colleagues as well.

Your individual response matters. Collectively, our responses can help tell the story of Washington’s dental workforce and give legislators the evidence they need to understand what must change.

Please take the survey. Please share it. And please make sure the voice of dental hygiene is represented when we walk into the 2027 legislative session.

Our profession deserves a seat at the table. Let’s bring the data with us.
